A qualified letter of recommendation for graduates with competencies in the fields of insurance economics, investment, pension finance and insurance regulation


The courses offered in the Bachelor and Master programs at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Goethe University provide quantitative and qualitative education in the fields of insurance, investment, pension finance and insurance regulation.

The studies are generally characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, as they convey knowledge in the fields of insurance, investment, pension finance (with the related actuarial approaches), finance, risk management and accounting. 

The ‘Insurance. Investment. Pensions. Regulation.’ Certificate of the Endowed Chair of Insurance and Regulation, the Chair of Investment, Portfolio Management and Pension Finance and the International Center for Insurance Regulation (ICIR) serves as a qualified letter of recommendation for graduates of the Master programs in Economics and Business Administration who have acquired and intensively applied competencies in the fields mentioned above.

The certificate is issued to graduates who pursue career paths in the insurance industry, consulting firms, auditing firms or regulatory institutions.

 

1. What is the ’Insurance. Investment. Pensions. Regulation.’ Certificate?

The certificate serves as proof of special knowledge in the fields of insurance economics, investment, pension finance and insurance regulation of graduates (Master students) of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Goethe University.

 

2. What can the ’Insurance. Investment. Pensions. Regulation.’ Certificate be used for?

The certificate can be used for applications for work related to insurance, investment, pension finance and insurance regulation, or also for academic positions, in order to deliver proof of specialized knowledge within the general Master Program studies.

 

3. Requirements and Certificate Issuance 

The certificate ‘Insurance. Investment. Pensions. Regulation.’ is only issued to graduates who have successfully finished their master’s degree in a program at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Goethe University. Graduates are eligible for a certificate if they have fulfilled the following requirements:

  •  at least 18 Credit Points (CP) from lectures or seminars from the list of eligible courses 

OR

  • at least 12 CP from lectures or seminars from the list of eligible courses and the master’s thesis with 24 CP with a corresponding thematic reference to insurance, investment, pension finance or insurance regulation 

The certificate documents all courses and final theses completed by the applicant in the Bachelor and Master programs, including the ECTS points earned, related to the topics of insurance, investment, pension finance and insurance regulation.

Important note: 

Courses and theses from the Bachelor Program can be listed in the certificate, but the ”hurdle“ of 18 CP (only courses and/or seminars) or 12 CP (courses and/or seminars) + 24 CP (master’s thesis) are required to be taken via the courses in the Master Program.

A list of possible courses is given below.

If the aforementioned requirements are fulfilled, students have the possibility to apply for a certificate. 

The certificate is issued only once in English during the semester breaks in March/April and July/August of a given year.

 

4. The Application Process

An electronic submission is required for the application for the certificate.
